My word, I have so much to be thankful for.
Our church just finished a sermon series on Jesus and the questions He asks in Scripture. The last few sermons were regarding thanksgiving. Oh it has been so refreshing. We also just went through a little booklet in our small group called “Thankfulness” and were encouraged to record one thing we are thankful for daily. This has been much more challenging than I ever anticipated.
I’m thinking God wants me to be more thankful. He wants to be made famous and rightly so. He certainly deserves it, and not only does He deserve it, but He refuses to share His glory with another. So He will be getting it no matter what. Heck yes. I sure do like that :)
This Thanksgiving was fairly similar to years past. A 10k run in the morning with my sister, Tina, hanging out with David during the day and dressing up to attend my grandparent’s country club where our Thanksgiving feast is served. It was a nice day, relaxing and great time spent with the family.
One thing did happen a little out of the ordinary. One exciting thing I might add.
It took a few days for us to complete, but we sat down that Thursday of Thanksgiving and sent in our adoption application! We applied to America World Adoption and requested a baby boy from Ethiopia. Our application can take up to 10 days to process, but they should be contacting us to either gather more information or let us know the next steps. Oh my word, my life feels surreal most days. Never what I had planned out in my head as a girl, but so much better!
We have so much to be thankful for. We have a Perfect Father who loves, cares and protects His orphans, and He knows them even before they are born. We pray He allows us to parent one (or more) of His precious children and that He, the Knower of all things, would protect the little guy whom He has mighty plans for in the meantime.
:) Thankful for Jesus for Life and life to the full. And thankful that regardless what He does and how our life transpires He is still worthy of All praise and thanks. Every little bit.
“Be joyful always; pray continually; give thanks in all circumstances, for this is God’s will for you in Christ Jesus.”
~1 Thessalonians 5:16-18
